Clinical approach
Assessment, formulation, treatment plan, review.
Every course of treatment follows the same clinical sequence. Below: the services offered, who each is for, and what the initial consultation involves.
Services
Initial consultation
Structured assessment of presenting concerns, history and goals, ending in a formulation and an agreed treatment plan. All new patients begin here.
Follow-up sessions
Evidence-based psychotherapy delivered to the treatment plan, at the agreed frequency, with periodic review.
Couples & sex therapy
For couples facing communication difficulties, recurring conflict, emotional distance, or concerns around intimacy.
Brief stress-management session
A single structured session teaching evidence-based stress-regulation techniques for immediate use.
Career counselling & aptitude testing
Psychometric assessment and guidance for educational and career choices.
The initial consultation
Sixty minutes, in five stages.
Before the session
No preparation is required. Online patients receive a video link; in-person patients are seen at the clinic on the 6th floor.
Presenting concerns
A clinical interview establishes current difficulties, their history and context, at a pace set by the patient.
Formulation
The clinician shares a working formulation in plain terms. Where a psychiatric or medical opinion is indicated, a referral is made.
Treatment plan
Approach, frequency, expected duration, cost and review points are agreed with the patient and can be revised at any review.
After the session
A range of responses is normal after a first assessment. Follow-up sessions are booked by the patient at the agreed frequency.
Online or in person
Both formats follow the same clinical process and carry the same fee. Online sessions use a private video link; in-person sessions are at Sankalp Iconic Tower, Ahmedabad.
How the approach is chosen
Approaches are selected from evidence-based modalities on the basis of the formulation, and reviewed at agreed intervals. The rationale for any approach is explained before it is used.
